More Backyard Fun

YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! Look what Dave found in the backyard tonight.

In case you can't tell . . . . It's a scorpion. I'm so glad he was around to take care of disposing of this little creature. I have to admit that I'm a little freaked out about us walking around in our backyard. Tennis shoes are now required in our backyard!!!!!!

HURRY!!!!!!!!

Tonight Dave came in the front door and told the kids to come outside fast! They ran as quickly as they could to find an ice cream truck outside. This was no ordinary ice cream truck with popsicles, ice cream bars, soft serve ice cream, and hot fudge sundaes on the menu. Wow ice cream trucks have changed since we were kids. The kids loved their treats and as Tyler was eating his he started to laugh. I asked him what was so funny and he said "Mom I thought Dad was taking us outside to see an armadillo." We've had an armadillo visiting our yard at night but we haven't caught a glimpse of him yet. Tyler said the ice cream truck was way better than some armadillo!!

Tea Party

As I was cleaning up after bathtime the kids headed into the playroom to play for a few mintues before bed. When I came out here's what I found . . . .

Hard at work cooking dinner.

Posing for a picture.

Emma set the table.

Waiting for her dinner.

Being silly.

Inviting all her friends over for the tea party.

Blacky was invited (notice his lovely halo to protect his paws that were declawed last week).

Emma got all of her friends ready.

It was so cute. I love watching the kids play together and use their imaginations. They had created quite an elaborate story to go along with their party. Emma was pretending to be 5 and Tyler 10. I was supposed to be the grandma. The mom and dad were in Chicago visiting Wrigley Field (which is where Dave is right now:)). They both had adopted a special pet to bring to the tea party. Here's a clip of Tyler telling Grandma Pam about his pet:

The kids also wanted to tell you all about Blacky. As I mentioned we had his claws removed last week. He has the best 2 nurses a cat could ask for. They check on him all day long! He is one LOVED cat.

Just in case you were wondering where Emma went . . . . She went to check on Blacky!

Our Little Reader

Tyler has become quite the reader these days. Every night he picks a book to read to us and here's a clip of him reading "Fred and Ted" to us tonight! Sorry it's so dark in Emma's room and that she was causing so many distractions. Emma was finishing up her tea party in the playroom . . .pics to come of that!!

Some New Friends

For those of you who have chatted with the kids on the phone lately you've heard all about Connor and Chloe. Connor is 6 and Chloe is 4. I think our kids would spend all day every day with them if they could and the feeling is mutual too. Connor asked his mom if he could move into our house. He said we had an extra room waiting for him. We have grown very fond of their family. We met them through another wonderful family that is from Folsom. What a small world. Here's a picture of the kids watching a show after playing together ALL day. It's amazing how well they all get along . . . . I see many more playdates in our future!

WE LOVE YOU GREAT-GRANDMA

Hi Great-Grandma. The kids have been talking about you and missing you so much the past few weeks . . . . So we decided to leave you a little message on the blog. Tyler and Emma each picked one special toy that they wanted to share with you. We love you and miss you a lot!!!!!

Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. We celebrated with some neighbors down the street. The evening started with some swimming, followed by dinner, and finally the fireworks. Fireworks are definitely bigger in Texas! I thought for sure we were going to set something on fire but so far so good. The kids had a great time and loved the fireworks. Emma kept saying "This is so cool."

Dressed and ready to go.

Emma called this her 4th of July dress.

The kids enjoying a popsicyle after swimming for hours.

Time for the show.

So beautiful.

Walking home with our friend Madelyn.
