Anxiously Awaiting

The kids are so excited for the upcoming weeks. Grandpa Daryl, Grandma Pam and Uncle Derek are coming out on Thursday. They will be our first overnight guests so we have been busy getting the guest rooms ready. Tyler and Emma have been so helpful! Tyler's birthday is Saturday. I can't believe he is gong to be 5. We will be going to Medieval Times with my parents and my brother for his birthday. The kids are counting the hours until they get here!

We just found out that Dave's parents and Logan are coming out in February too! We are so glad that Dave's dad is feeling up for his first trip out to Texas. Tyler can't wait to take Grandpa Steve to Cabellas and then go fishing at the pond by our house. Emma said she can't wait to play ponies (My Little Pony) with Grandma Carol. They also told me they want to have a slumber party in Logan's room every night!

Here's a picture of them trying out grandma and grandpa's bed. They spent about an hour in their room this morning just hanging out. Do you think they are excited?

Cute Tyler Stories

I had to post these....

Ealier today I heard Tyler tell his Dad "Girls sure like to give a lot of kisses. They like to talk a lot too." I walked over and Tyler said "Mom I know you love me but do you have to kiss me so much?" My little man is growing up so fast! It's hard to believe he's almost 5.

As we were cleaning up the playroom tonight I thanked Tyler for being so helpful. He said "Mom I was just born this way. Tonight you should thank God for making me this way."

Sooooooooo cute!

An Early Birthday Present

Tyler got an early birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa Scriven today. He LOVES his brand new bike. Thank you Grandpa and Grandma! Emma is loving that she can now borrow his old bike . . . I'm thinking a new bike might be headed her way for her upcoming birthday!

It Was a Great Day in Tyler's World

Today was a great day in Tyler's world. I asked him what he wanted to do this afternoon and he said he wanted to ride his bide around the neighborhood and see if any new friends were out playing. So off we went. Tyler has been working so hard to essentially relearn to ride his bike without training wheels. His bike was in storage for several months after we moved and apartment life was really not conducive to too much bike riding. As you can see from my video clip he is doing great. He was so proud of himself today. He rode his bike all the way down the street and met a new friend, Alex. He and Alex rode bikes for about an hour and Tyler was grinning from ear to ear.

I Want My Daddy

Poor Emma has been pretty sick the past few days. We took her into the doctor on Tuesday. They rinsed her ears, did a thorough exam, and swabbed for H1N1 and RSV. The doctors and nurses couldn't believe what a GREAT patient she was during all of this. Turns out she has an ear infection, eye infection, and RSV. YUCK!!!!! Today she seems a little better and I'm hoping we've seen the worst of it. We've had to do a few breathing treatments but she's really handled RSV like a trouper. Here's a picture of her from Tuesday. All she has wanted since she's been sick is her dad. I think it's adorable how much she loves him and that all she wants is him to hold her.

It's an M&M

Tyler, Emma, and I were having some trail mix this morning for a little snack. Emma told us that she loved the N&Ms in it. Tyler and I had a great time trying to teach her that they're called M&Ms not N&Ms.

The Perfect Day

Today was one of those days . . . One of those absolutely perfect days that you know you will remember forever. It was day filled with laughter, love, and a ton of FUN. We started the day with a walk. It's been raining around here so it had been a few days since we'd played outside. We walked to the park and played for about an hour. Then the kids wanted to walk to another park to play and feed the fish. We headed home after about 3 hours for some lunch before we made our way to playgroup. Our afternoon was spent in the playroom, which is by far the kids' favorite part of the house! I was trying to catch up on a little laundry while the kids were playing when Tyler came up to me and said "Mom do you want me to help you put away all of the clothes so you can be done with your work sooner?" He has been so helpful lately and I just love to see this side of him, not to mention the fact that he has been truly helpful. While we were getting ready for bed Emma said "Mommy this was a great day." and then Tyler said "Mom it has been a really great day. I've had a lot of fun." When I asked the kids what their favorite part of the day was Emma said "Looking for coyotes on the trail." and Tyler said "Playing with you mom." To top off this perfect day my kids brought tears to my eyes as we were saying our prayers tonight. Tyler began his prayer by saying "Dear God, Please help great-grandma not be so sad. She is really missing great-grandpa." Then Emma says "Yea, she misses him lots and lots. So do I mommy." Just before he headed to bed Tyler said "Mom I have the best idea. I know what would make great-grandma feel better. We should call her on the phone and she can pray with us to feel better." Hope everyone had a day just as wonderful as ours!!!!!!!!!!

Climbing trees near the park.

"Help!!!"

"Want to chase me?"

"Bet you can't catch me!"

Being silly.

Having fun at the park.

"Mom, we need a picture of you." Thanks for taking my picture Tyler (note to self . . . wear make-up next time).
