Logan's Summer Visit

We sure enjoyed our last visit with Logan. This was his first trip out by himself and we treasured the 4 days he was here!!! We did a lot of swimming and playing at the house, and also took a day trip to Austin. On our way to Austin we stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then at Inner Space Cavern. Inner Space Cavern was discovered by a Texas Highway Department core drilling team in 1963. While drilling through 40 feet of solid limestone, the bit broke into what is now known as Inner Space Cavern. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! We took an hour and half long tour of the inside of the cavern and Tyler, Emma and Logan really seemed to enjoy it. After our tour, we headed into Austin. We showed Logan around one of our favorite cities, bought some UT stuff, ate dinner at PF Changs, and then waited for the famour bats under the Congress Avenue Bridge. The Congress Avenue Bridge spans Town Lake in downtown Austin and is home to the largest urban bat colony in North America. The colony is estimated at 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats. Each night from mid-March to November, the bats emerge from under the bridge at dusk to blanket the sky as they head out to forage for food. We were a little disappointed because the bats didn't seem to be flying in full force the night we were there, but it was still fun to watch. We miss Logan already and hope he will come see us again very soon.

Fire Station Tour

The kids and I joined our Mom's Club for a tour of our local fire station this week. They really enjoyed getting to see the station and all of the trucks.

We Miss you Cooper:)

Tyler has met many new friends here in Texas . . . . But no one will EVER compare to his friend Cooper. Tyler and Cooper have always had the most amazing bond. Even though they are thousands of miles separate apart now Tyler will always have a special place in his heart for Cooper. Cooper we sure miss you and here's a little message from Tyler!

More Backyard Fun

YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! Look what Dave found in the backyard tonight.

In case you can't tell . . . . It's a scorpion. I'm so glad he was around to take care of disposing of this little creature. I have to admit that I'm a little freaked out about us walking around in our backyard. Tennis shoes are now required in our backyard!!!!!!

HURRY!!!!!!!!

Tonight Dave came in the front door and told the kids to come outside fast! They ran as quickly as they could to find an ice cream truck outside. This was no ordinary ice cream truck with popsicles, ice cream bars, soft serve ice cream, and hot fudge sundaes on the menu. Wow ice cream trucks have changed since we were kids. The kids loved their treats and as Tyler was eating his he started to laugh. I asked him what was so funny and he said "Mom I thought Dad was taking us outside to see an armadillo." We've had an armadillo visiting our yard at night but we haven't caught a glimpse of him yet. Tyler said the ice cream truck was way better than some armadillo!!

Tea Party

As I was cleaning up after bathtime the kids headed into the playroom to play for a few mintues before bed. When I came out here's what I found . . . .

Hard at work cooking dinner.

Posing for a picture.

Emma set the table.

Waiting for her dinner.

Being silly.

Inviting all her friends over for the tea party.

Blacky was invited (notice his lovely halo to protect his paws that were declawed last week).

Emma got all of her friends ready.

It was so cute. I love watching the kids play together and use their imaginations. They had created quite an elaborate story to go along with their party. Emma was pretending to be 5 and Tyler 10. I was supposed to be the grandma. The mom and dad were in Chicago visiting Wrigley Field (which is where Dave is right now:)). They both had adopted a special pet to bring to the tea party. Here's a clip of Tyler telling Grandma Pam about his pet:

The kids also wanted to tell you all about Blacky. As I mentioned we had his claws removed last week. He has the best 2 nurses a cat could ask for. They check on him all day long! He is one LOVED cat.

Just in case you were wondering where Emma went . . . . She went to check on Blacky!

Our Little Reader

Tyler has become quite the reader these days. Every night he picks a book to read to us and here's a clip of him reading "Fred and Ted" to us tonight! Sorry it's so dark in Emma's room and that she was causing so many distractions. Emma was finishing up her tea party in the playroom . . .pics to come of that!!
